Using the email editor
Blocks, slash commands, merge tags, images and buttons — explained.
Mailbo's email editor is designed to feel like a clean writing document, not a clunky page-builder. You write top to bottom and add richer pieces ("blocks") as you go. The same editor is used for campaigns, sequences and the double opt-in email.
Writing text
Just click into the body and type. Select text to reveal formatting options — bold, italic, links, headings and alignment.
The slash menu (the key trick)
On a new, empty line, type /. A menu pops up letting you insert blocks such as:
- Image — upload a picture.
- Button — a call-to-action button with its own link and label.
- Divider — a horizontal line to separate sections.
- Headings and lists.
This is the fastest way to build a good-looking email — write your text, then drop in an image or button with /.
Personalisation (merge tags)
Type a merge tag in double curly braces and Mailbo fills in each contact's real value at send time:
{{first_name}}→ the contact's first name{{last_name}}→ last name- any custom field key, e.g.
{{company}}
Example: "Hi {{first_name}}, thanks for being a {{plan}} customer." Write a sensible sentence even if the value is blank, so it still reads well.
Links and buttons
- To make text a link, select it and use the link option.
- For a prominent call to action, insert a Button block via
/and set its text and destination URL.
Every link is tracked automatically, so clicks show up in your campaign report.
Always preview before sending
Use Send preview to mail yourself a real copy. Check it on your phone too — most people read email on mobile.
